E-cigarettes can also be used in vaporising marijuana in addition to nicotine. E-cigarettes are typically run by batteries that, when inhaled, turn on a heating element and vaporise a liquid nicotine solution kept in tiny tubes. Many conventional e-cigarette nicotine solutions can be replaced with hash oil, and some retailers provide e-cigarettes made expressly for use with cannabis leaves or wax loaded with THC, the psychoactive component of marijuana.
Researchers in Connecticut queried 3,847 high schoolers and found that 18.7% of them acknowledged using e-cigarettes to vaporise hash oil or other cannabis derivatives.
Additionally, the researchers discovered that teenagers are increasingly using electronic cigarettes, with over a quarter of 27.9% of students admitting they vape.
